The Board of Management plays a critical role in ensuring that Alpha Joy Care Children’s Home remains a safe, ethical, and well-governed environment for every child.
Since our formation in 2000, the Board has provided leadership, oversight, and strategic direction that allows the home to operate with accountability and excellence.
Our Board members volunteer their time, skills, and wisdom to support the home’s mission of nurturing vulnerable children and helping them grow into confident, responsible adults.
Our Responsibilities
The Board of Management oversees key areas, including:
- Governance & Compliance – Ensuring the home meets all legal requirements under the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Development.
- Financial Oversight – Managing resources responsibly and ensuring transparency in how funds and donations are used.
- Strategic Planning – Setting long-term goals that strengthen the home’s sustainability and quality of care.
- Child Welfare Oversight – Ensuring every child receives proper care, protection, education, and emotional support.
- Staff Support & Guidance – Working closely with the Home Director to ensure smooth daily operations and high standards of practice.
- Community Partnerships – Building relationships with partners, donors, well-wishers, churches, and community stakeholders.
Meet Our Board of Management
Board Chairperson – Joseph Nganga Kamanu
As the Chairperson, Mr. Kamanu provides direction, leadership, and governance oversight. He ensures that the Board operates with integrity, accountability, and a clear focus on the wellbeing of the children.
Home Director – Elizabeth Wanjiru Mungai
Elizabeth leads the daily operations of Alpha Joy with compassion and dedication. She oversees child welfare, staff, programs, and all activities within the home. Her hands-on leadership is central to the success and stability of the children.
