1. What is Alpha Joy Care Children’s Home?

Alpha Joy is a registered children’s home located in Ndeiya, Limuru Subcounty, Kiambu County. Since 2000, we have provided shelter, education, emotional support, and a loving family environment for vulnerable children aged 2–18.

2. How many children do you care for?

We currently care for approximately 55 children, though the number may vary depending on new admissions or reintegration with biological families when possible and safe.

3. Where do the children come from?

The children are referred to us through:

  • Area chiefs

  • Police

  • Children’s officers

  • Local community members
    Most come from situations of abandonment, abuse, neglect, poverty, or loss of parents.

4. Are the children legally committed to the home?

Yes. Each child has a court committal document and a birth certificate. Committals are reviewed and renewed every 3 years as required by the Children’s Act of Kenya.

5. Does Alpha Joy have a school?

No. We do not operate our own school.
Children attend:

  • Nearby primary schools

  • Various secondary schools across Kenya

  • Colleges and universities
    All education costs are supported through well-wishers and partners.

6. How does Alpha Joy support children emotionally?

We provide counseling, mentorship, spiritual guidance, and motivational talks to help children heal from past trauma and build confidence, resilience, and emotional stability.

7. How can I donate?

You can donate through our Family Bank account:

We also accept in-kind donations such as food, clothing, bedding, hygiene items, and school supplies.

8. Can I visit the children’s home?

Yes, visitors are welcome!
Visiting Hours: Monday – Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
We kindly ask that you call ahead so we can prepare to receive you.

9. Can I volunteer at Alpha Joy?

Yes. Volunteers are welcome to help with mentorship, activities, tutoring, or special programs.
Please contact our Director to discuss suitability and scheduling.

10. How is Alpha Joy funded?

We do not have a permanent sponsor.
All operations rely on:

  • Well-wishers

  • Community support

  • Occasional fundraisers

  • Partnerships with individuals, churches, schools, and organizations

11. Who manages the home?

Alpha Joy is governed by a Board of Management and led by the Home Director, Elizabeth Wanjiru Mungai, who oversees child welfare and daily operations.
